Then you should mark these roads, like Prince's street at Bank Junction in London, as permanently closed! Because when they are open, ie outside of Monday - Friday 7am to 7pm, there will be less traffic anyway. When they are not open to cars and motorbikes, there will be much more traffic and it will be much more…

I could never get my Rider to connect to my Huawei P20. However, that was the one and only Bluetooth device with which the P20 has ever had a Bluetooth issue. Now that I have a Samsung S21, the connection is better but not perfect; what has become worse is the connection between the rider and my Cardo freecom 4+: on my…

Time restrictions as in winter / summer, or also as different times of the day? Is there any documentation on how this works in MyDrive or the Rider 550? Also, and this is just curiosity, how do time-based speed limits work in the Netherlands? Something like 30 kmh in the cities during the day and 50 kmh at night?

Is there any way to manually tell the TomTom (I have a Rider 550) to avoid a certain road or a certain area? If I am planning a complicated route with many waypoints I can obviously set my points so as to avoid an area; but if I am just going from A to B and want to ensure I avoid a road or an area, can I do that?
-
How about restrictions which only apply at certain times? Eg if a bridge or a road is open to cars only between 8pm and 6am - can TomTom hold this information, or does its software identify roads only as always open or always closed? I guess the strength of Waze is not that it has maps made for motorcycles (it doesn't),…

@YamFazMan , thank you! In my case, I'd be importing gpx routes created elsewhere (e.g. in CaliMoto). My main question has to do with what happens if I need to take a detour. Let's say my route passes through A,B,C, and D. Let's say that the road where B is closed for whatever reason (collision, roadworks, etc) so I must…
-
@rider1rider Could you please elaborate? IF I am riding along a gpx route and I miss a way point, what happens, exactly? Will the TomTom ask me to go back a few times (how many? 2? 3? 6?) before giving up and letting me continue? Does the TomTom pop up a button on the screen I could press without pulling over, like the…

I guess I wasn't clear. The phone is not connected to anything via bluetooth: not the car, not a headset, not speaker, nothing, so it is NOT a bluetooth issue. The sound should come out of the phone internal speaker; it does for a few minutes, then it goes mute.dans App going mute after a few minutes (not connected to bluetooth) Commentaire de uktomtommer décembre 2020

I limit this problem by exempting the MyDrive app from battery optimisation (how to do it depends on your specific phone, google is your friend) and by ensuring I manually launch the MyDrive app on the phone before turning on the headset and the TomTom. I say "limit" because, even so, the connection is temperamental at…
-
I actually have an Android, not an Iphone, but the fact remains the connection is incredibly unstable and temperamental with both. We are talking about a connection to transfer very little data; it is 2020 and Bluetooth is more than 3 decades old - these glitches are simply not acceptable. Had I known, I would not have…
-
So, to recap, we are in 2020, and a technology (Bluetooth) which has been around for as long as 31 YEARS still does not work reliably with the most popular smartphone on this planet. I believe any comment would be unnecessary ...

You're right. One possibility might be a cheapish, 2nd hand rugged phone like a Cat, Ulefone, Blackview etc, which should be waterproof enough. Even if vibrations damage the camera sensor, I won't care much because I'll never use that phone's camera. Keeping it without any waterproof bag will mean it will get lots of air…
-
Thanks. May I ask in which country you are? I ask because of traffic data. Maybe the best option is to buy a second-hand rugged phone and use Waze or the TomTom app on that! The only problem is that I would then either need to have a sim with data for that phone, or to use my main phone as wifi hotspot, which drains the…

I had already done it but the map has not been updated. In cases like these, Garmin's feature of avoiding a specific road or area is very useful

Can anyone confirm if the Zumo XT uses blutooth low energy or not? I am having bluetooth issues between the Rider 550 and my Huawei phone. Also, where in the world are you, and how did you find Garmin's traffic data vs TomTom's ?
-
That is actually very interesting - I didn't know, thanks a lot! However, disappointing that TomTom doesn't mention it and doesn't propose alternatives to get round the BLE issues. I will play around with the bluetooth tethering options. Do you happen to know if Garmin's Zumo XT uses bluetooth low energy, too? Is there amy…

I have an Android Huawei P20 pro. handsfree calling and smartphone messages used to work, but they stopped working a few weeks ago. It just says "not supported". I have tried - multiple times - the IT approach of removing the phone from the satnav, the satnav from the phone (from Bluetooth settings) and pairing the two…
-
I hear you but, to be honest, how can you be so confident the issue is with the phone and not with the sat nav? TomTom itself admitted it's a known issue, and every other bluetooth device I have ever tried works fine with the phone. After all, Bluetooth is a technology that's been around for about 3 decades. It is 2020,…

I have reset the Rider - nothing. I am not going to reset the phone because there would be too much data to restore - and I'd have to wait for my employer's IT to re-grant me access to certain things, which would take a while. I have, however, tried with another phone, a Samsung Galaxy s7 edge, and the connection was very…

Can you please clarify: 1) How do I report a road closure? I could find how to report no left turn, no right turn, but not a road closure 2) How do you report a road which is open to residents only, but not to people passing through to go elsewhere? Do you know how TomTom displays it? Thanks!
-
So it is by design that the Rider won't connect to BT if it is connected to wifi? Is this mentioned anywhere in the documentation?? I have already done the IT approach multiple times; on gadgets this expensive, I shouldn't really have to, to be honest. Huge disappointment.
-
Does your Rider ever connect to the phone when the Rider is connected to wifi? As for smartphone messages and hands-free calling, of course I get it that those functions only work if the MyDrive app is connected; my point is that, even when the MyDrive app is connected, these no longer work. They used to, but not any more.…

No. A bluetooth headset cannot know which app is streaming audio to it

Would that create issues if I receive a phone call while the Go app is running and set to "voice call channel"? Also, what is the difference among?* music channel * voice channel * system channel * notification channel * alarm channel * ring channel (which are the options I have)
