I don't believe you and that link is clear as mud. From your own post "Your device will continue to function as it does now, but your map will become out-of-date and as such navigation will be less accurate." Less accurate means useless.

It has only been 8 years in what universe is that a lifetime. all they had to do to keep me as customer was to say buy and your lifetime maps transfer to new device. taking my custom elsewhere:no_mouth:.
