App loading when on extremely slow internet connection

When my mobile data plan expires, I get a very slow mobile data connection. It is about 0.025 MBPS. This cause the TomTom app to no longer launch. It wil show a “loading app” spinner, but this will not go away, even after waiting for 5 minutes.
Seeing that the app should be working without an internet connection (my main reason for using TomTom) I wonder if there can be a shorter timeout so the app wil launch normally when on an extremely slow internet connection.

The application is installed on your phone there should be no slowdown at startup or need for the network connection.0
