zoom level for a route to drive on the GO Discover TomTom

have another question regarding my go discover 7inch.
When i plan a route and click on drive a lot of the time the map stays zoomed out and I have to click on the compass icon to get it to street level....Is that normal as surely it should zoom to street level as soon as i select drive.I know it's not a but problem but it's just a bit annoying
As always any help appreciated

Hold the screen with your two fingers as in a victory sign and then stretch your fingers outward. Keep doing this until you reach the desired zoom you want.1
