TomTom won't load all the time on carplay (iOS 15.0.1)

Hi,
Since upgrading I've noticed more times than not that Tom Tom does not load when on car play, I get a blank screen with the text "Loading app" which does nothing. It's not safe as I have to fumble for the phone and play around opening the app on the phone and closing it a few times then it starts to work most of the time.

Any one else had this or know if its an issue with the app?

    Hi Mike!
    I have the same problem with Car Play on TomTom Go (v 2.7.2) and iOS 15.0 / 15.0.1. The only way I find it working is to get TomTom to work in CarPlay, first launch it on my mobile phone and then connect it to CarPlay.

    My iPhone SE (2020) connects to CarPlay with a cable.

    Yes I've an 11 Pro Max using the cable to connect too, and also have it working if you load the app first but it doesn't seem right to me.

    iOS 15.0.2 has been released. Includes a fix for the problem: "CarPlay may not have been able to open audio apps." Let's see if it also fixes the TomTom problem.

    Same problem. But its not related to IOS 15. or carplay in my opinion, had this troubles on IOS 14 as well. The app doesn't load at all. This occurs since the app update en few weeks ago. Removed it, restarted the phone. Reinstalled it, Tried everything I could think of. Closing the app (swipe up en kill it) will sometimes solve the problem, but next time u use the app, it again won't start... I think this needs a bugfix from TT.

    Hi yes I’ve have the same problem. I think this needs a TT fix too I’ve tried bringing it up on my phone first and then connecting to the cable but it says the same on the phone application loading on the phone and on CarPlay.

    Hi there,

    Thank you all for reporting this. Our team is investigating this and it affects all phones/iOS versions (also not just with CarPlay, but occurs more with it), you can just restart the app and it should work.

    Updating IOS to 15.0.2 didnt solve the issue..

    I only have this issue if tomtom go is not loaded before so not running on the background. So close tom tom go completely then start with carplay it keeps stuck on loading. But when open app and keep it running on background it does load fine.

    @lampard - Any news on this?

    I have upgraded to the latest version of iOS 15 but my wife an I are still having this issue on our iphone 11s. We have the issue with the app not loading correctly and also the audio cut out when using the app.

    If we try to listen to music whilst using the app as soon as there is a TomTom camera alert or announcement the audio from whatever audio source we are listening to doesn't come back correctly....

    Same problem described in the first users comment. App without connect constantly stats Loading... and a restart of the app itself or of the entire Iphone11max does not make a difference. in the car it states loading app... and will not load. every now an then it does load, but more often it does not load. I'm to the point that I will stop my subscription.

    Same problem on iPhone X running iOS 15.1. The app never loads. Restarting the app NEVER fixes the problem.

    Just upgraded to Family edition as well, so paying more for something that does not work!

    Same problem here, the only useful is restarting the iPhone 11 and then it loads as if nothing is wrong.
    In februari I hope it will be solved, if not then I’ll stop my annual ticket so TomTom make a solution asap. Too many complaints of all your customer’s is make the choice to leave more easy.

    I have the same problem the App doesn't load, sometimes I can swip up and close the app and relaunch a few times i have had to delete the app and reinstall and then i get a map loading error, i use an iPhone 11pro with IOS 15.1.
    Im getting to the point where i might have to look at other providers as this App is not reliable.

    App on my old iPhone 11 Pro Max would not load 4 times out of 5. Had to restart phone each time. Annoying when I would prepare route before setting off and then get in car and find the app just whirring around.
    Just acquired 13 Pro Max and have to uninstall app and reinstall to make it load.
    Had this problem for months and would have thought TomTom would have had it fixed by now. Seriously thinking that Google Maps is the best answer and it”s free!

    Same issue as everyone only work around I have found is to turn mobile data off then CarPlay pics it up then I turn mobile data back on not an ideal work around but works so I’m guessing your coding is screwed somewhere along the mobile data connection if your devs can’t fix it try asking the WAV devs because they got this licked

    I’m not kidding folks, but I was having all the same problems, and tried all the same solutions to no avail. I decided I had to stop my subscription even though I had till April next year. I unsubscribed from auto-renewal and I kid you not, everything works fine now! Of course I will renew when prompted if this turns out to be the solution and I have no further problems.

    Unless this is fixed before my subscription is due to renew in January, I will be deleting the App and revert to using Apple Maps. Most times I try to use TomTom and it refuses to load, so I end up using Apple Maps by default. The Apple App is more reliable in my experience. G

    Any news on a fix for this? I'm on V2.8.1 and iOS15.2 and still have the 'Loading App' problem EVERY time.
    I have to close the app, turn on 'Airplane mode' on my phone, start the app again, wait for it to open, then turn Airplane Mode off again.
