Clio Remote is not responding. Are the remote controllers prone to fail or is it more likely some other issue please?

In my humble opinion, the Renault dealer is talking balderdash - all you're doing is putting new batteries in. However, even if he's correct, pairing takes no time at all. And yes, any replacement you buy will have to be paired.
May I humbly also suggest that if you pay £45 for a new unit, you'll be ripped off. An alternative, not exactly the same, but works pretty much as well, is the remote for the standalone GO920. This one is OK, but still expensive with the postage.

BUT DO BEWARE IF YOU BUY ONLINE. An earlier model is still available occasionally and it is wireless, not Bluetooth. You MUST have the Bluetooth one.6

Yes this is the remote and yes I have changed the batteries. Could it be the receiver in the dashboard I wonder?0

According to my local Renault dealer if the batteries are out of the remote unit for several minutes the remote memory will be lost and the unit will need to be matched with the car again? Does anybody have any experience in such a thing please?
On balance if this is true then the replacements offered on e-bay will not work until they have been paired with the car, yes?0 -

Got a friend of a friend who is going to lend me his some time soon. That may give me some positive direction. Thanks for the info this far. May have to call on you again if the saga continues. Thanks Keith0

If the saga continues long enough, my 15 year old GO520 will die (it is quite ill at the moment) and you can have my remote!0

I had my original remote stolen and bought a replacement off e-bay. I can't get it to operate the unit, even after replacing the batteries.
The new (second-hand) one appears to be identical to the original. What do I have to do to pair it?0 -
Normally there is nothing to do after pressing any button to turn on the remote control automatically connects to your navigation system.0

The important thing is whether the e-bay one is Bluetooth. There are two remotes which look alike, one Bluetooth, the other wireless. E-Bay is not famous for identifying them.2

@Fortalamo @Carminat @Willy875 Hello there! Here is what you need to do:
1- If radio and/or car is on, turn off the radio and turn off the car.
2- Turn on the car, then turn on the radio. Welcome menu it will show on the carminat screen.
3- At the same time, click and mantain pressing the button showed with a symbol " _I ", the button is in the remote control at the right if you are looking it from the front. The blue light on the remote control will flash, with a blinking movement.
4- Keep the button pressed until the blue light on the remote control stop blinking and stays on all the time. It could take seconds, less than a minute, don't despair!
Voila! Your remote control will be paired with carminat.
Unfortunately, this tip is not described by neither tomtom support or car dealer (in my case, it will be renault, carminat mounted on Megane 3 2012), and getting the info is complicated on the web. I had lucky on youtube, that's all.
By the way, thanks to @Carminat for all that you wrote on this forum regarding remote control. It was very helpful, unlike Tomtom & Renault (in my case).
Regards!2
