Do speed cameras stay on device after subscription ends?

I am thinking of buying a Go Discover which come with 1 year's free traffic subscription. At the end of that year, if I do not renew the traffic camera subscription, do the speed cameras (from the first free year) still stay on the device? Or are they not stored on the device at all and thus they no longer appear once the subscription lapses?

    Hi

There has been a change in the Speed cam subscriptions... The Tomtom subscriptions now 'Auto Renew' by default....

Note... If your subscription has expired you will NOT get any Speed cam warning on the device, even the old database is still installed on the device....

That is a game changer and VERY stupid of Tomtom. Their old devices are now too slow and their new devices tie you in to subscription for essential services. I've been using Tomtom since my first PDA over 20 years ago. Now for the first time ever they are forcing me to buy another product. Either through greediness or sheer misjudgement of their customers needs and tolerances.

Drive to the limits and within the law and you do not need to worry about the location of speed cameras or pay for an unnecessary subscription.

Personally I believe the provision of such a service encourages law breaking and, like the French, should be banned

My Wi-Fi Connected devices aren’t slow or laggy….
Some users have found that logging out of MyDrive in the Setting menu on the device is beneficial....
I have multiple Tomtom devices, so I have always logged out of MyDrive in the Setting menu on the devices by default (So I can't comment if it's beneficial or not) ???
Logging out of MyDrive fix for Multiple device using one Account

I also find the Wi-Fi devices are more stable and more responsive in general use when I 'Forget' the Wi-Fi connection....
Unless you're using a personal My-Fi Hotspot in the car for your data connection, the only other reason for a live Wi-Fi connection is for updating the device....
I always turn off (Forget) Wi-Fi by default and only login for updates....
It's no big deal for updates, you only have to enter your Wi-Fi password...

I guess the fewer Data Connections in use on the device, at any one time, the less load on system resources ???

Thanks, but I'm afraid Tomtom have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in my case. I've now cancelled my Amazon order for the 7" Go Discover and put through one for the Garmin DrivesSmart 86.

Maybe I'll hate the UI, the maps or less accurate traffic (allegedly). But if Tomtom had just kept going in the same direction as Garmin with added features (not taking out hands free calls, phone notifications and Siri/Google) and free for life services, I wouldn't feel like they were pushing me straight into the arms of Garmin.
