Updating Tomtom Go 500 Error

I am unable to update my Tomtom Go 500 device to get the latest routes and traffic signals. I have followed the steps provided by Tomtom but it is to no avail. My device keeps stating that "services temporarily unavailable". How do I overcome this issue and update my Tomtom Go 500

GO 500 This is a new Nav 4 or an old Nav 20
