Route calculation after reporting the closed road

When when you happen on a closed road - which you report, why does this not prompt an immediate route recalculation? Extremely annoying when not in familiar territory! What ever diversion or new route option I selected, I was routed back down the closed. Added over an hour to a three hour trip!
