Upgrading old App to new with free subscription

Hi, I am trying to upgrade to the new app. Whenever I login on the old app it states “adding your purchase to your TomTom account failed, you can retry now or this will be retried next time you open the app”.

I have tried iPhone restart and downloading the new app and logging in with my ID but to no avail..
