Why doesn't my TomTom25 show as connected to my Mac laptop?

I'm trying to get the new map downland onto my TomTom25, using MyDrive Connect. I have the latest install of the app and I'm using the satnav's USB cable (which shows no signs of damage). I've tried the various troubleshooting tips on the website but nothing's working.

    Hi Jim, yes I tried that but it didn't work. I'll have another go tomorrow (on the basis that sometimes turning everything off and back on again might help!).

    I had connection problem it kept saying server busy so i found a folder with 18 installs so i deleted them all and deleted all tom tom of my compuer then i found it was the windows app so i changed the settings and took away there choice of connection and then i went to tom tom get started and it found my account and it had got three updates which i had been trying to install for over a year i clicked to update all and in mins i had logged back into my account and it did all the updates
