won`t connect to computer

i have a tom tom pro that will not connect to a windows 10 either with tom tom home or my drive i have tried removing drivers updating drivers but with no success i have tried different cables but always says no device connected if i try to connect to wifi to update it always looses connection and i have to restart the sat nav for it to continue and if its a big map update this can take for ages due to having to restart 3 or 4 times to get it even though the sat nav is only about a foot away from the router

    I keep getting told to connect my device which it is so can do updates . Is there any reason for this as I never had this problem before
