Tomtom tech support -SD card problems

Can anyone tell me why SmartMedia connect cannot recognise a 32gb sd. It is formatted correctly but is not recognised as 32, all I get in not enough space; it's showing only 8gb used.
After three weeks of email tennis with TomTom I'm no further forward. If I wasn't stuck but having a built in system I'd be an ex customer. Rant over, thanks

    Are you sure that it is a genuine 32Gb card? What brand? Where did you buy it from?
    Did you format it as "slow" FAT32?
    Did you the allow MyDriveConnect to format to TomTom proprietary format?
