It took forever to download (8GB) not sure why. But all is well that ends well! (Not sure what Taiwan has to do with map of Europe)

Hi Lepre, I have VirginMedia 100Mbps. That is why I could not understand why it took so long. I was getting worried because there was no announcement re v10.55 on here and I was thinking what am I downloading. Just pleased it was okay in the end.

I have just downloaded the updates for UK, Germany, Europe, Greece plus Speed Camera updates - total of 5 updates - which has taken a total of around 40 minutes. I have just checked my internet download speed, which shows 45.3 Mbps.

That time includes some idle time as I was doing other things so a download would have finished for, maybe, a minute or more before I started the next download. That indicates to me that at the time there wasn’t a problem with TomTom servers. Obviously there will be times when a high usage to download occurs thus reducing the available individual bandwidth and hence slower download.

As advised on the forum in past responses, I only download one update at a time which, for me, seems to work just fine.

I hope that adds a bit of perspective to this issue.

The main thing is that this thread is totally silent as to complaints about the actual update. Vikram must be very pleased and many thanks to him in any event.

    Hi
    @irbrctt
    +1
    Same here no problems ....
    Virgin Media Broadband 100Mb/s
    Speed Connection test 112.8Mb/s...

The fastest Wi-Fi connection displayed on my Go Premium is 72Mb/s
I guess that's the Max Connection speed on the NAV5 (Wi-Fi) devices....

    bkeqc7g3p17m.jpg

My downloads on the GO Premium over USB With MDConnect running in the background are notably faster using USB than over Wi-Fi....

Full Europe map v10.55... Size 8.91GB
PC Hardwired back to the router, connected over USB, MyDrive Connect running in the background....
Map installed, device ready to use... 16 minutes 41 seconds (Stopwatch)

    Stay Safe... ATB YFM

When will the Q4 2020 maps be released?

the common logic says "every 3 months"

It seems to be on the last Tuesday in the month (Feb, May, Aug, Nov), so following that logic that might make it Tuesday November 24th, but sometimes there is a hold up and it is later............

    We wait to see.
