Can TomTom cause short circuit?
Is this possible? What could be done?

It is not possible if your TomTom is not broken. Make sure you do the following:
Use TomTom's original or certified cable
OR
Use high quality cable
If a low quality cable is used, then it could heat up and cause a lot of resistance which would short circuit the outlet.5 -

Do you use the original car charger provided by TomTom in your car? Not a third party charger?
The TomTom car charger in the original box is designed for an output of 1.2A, which Tomtom devices need at a minimum. That's not much compared to current devices like recent smartphones that require 2 or 3A chargers.
Either it's the car socket that has a problem, but I assume your mechanic checked, or maybe the original TomTom car charger is faulty. Your device must still be under warranty.
Contact TomTom customer service directly to see what can be done for the car charger and/or the TomTom device. Only by email or Chat during office hours, the phone service is stopped.

If you have a problem with a page that returns to the home page, do " previous page" in your Web browser and use the "Esc" key on your keyboard to keep the page wanted.

Thanks for your reactions. I am using the original cables and accesories. It's a good idea to contact te customer service, I will do so.
