Good morning All.
As I wrote in the title, windows 10 can not see the device. The cable goes directly to pc, not Hub or monitor, when I plugged the cable I can ear the sound of the plug in device, but the OS doesn't recognize the hardware.
Also my drive connect cannot see the rider 550, the only way is through wi-fi connection.
I think that should be drivers problem.
Any suggestion?
Thank U in advance.
Best.
Giulio

HI, and Thank You.
I,ve tried this procedure yesterday, every step, but without success.
Under device manager tomtom does't appear! And also there is no possibilities to flag ''delete the drivers sw for this device''.
I tried several times. unistalling mydriveconnect and reset tomtom...but it seems that I return always at the initial issue!
It's the first time that a device looks like Satan!

Hi
@majori_giulio
Welcome to the site...
The NAV5 (Wi-Fi) devices normally update using Wi-Fi....
If Wi-Fi is not available or is slow/unstable/unreliable.....
See Option... (2) Connect over USB....
TomTom Video... Updating your navigation device using Wi-Fi
If you have successfully connected your device to your Wi-Fi....
To check your Connection Speed, Signal Strength & Quality
On the Device... Tap 4Dot (.... Menu) --> Settings --> Wi-Fi
Tap on Your WI-FI name (The one Showing as connected)
A new Menu Page opens
On the left-hand side of the screen is your Wi-Fi Connection Status
Tomtom recommends a minimum Wi-Fi download speed of 30Mbps
Tomtom NAV5 (Wi-Fi) devices will only connect to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network
All the update actions are executed on the device...
___________________________
Option... (1) Connected Wi-Fi
Tap the 4Dot(.... Menu) --> Setting --> Updates & New Items
Extra Maps are Installed/Maintained... Tap the 4Dot(.... Menu) --> Setting --> Maps
I always update my devices one Update at a time
The NavCore Application and QuickFixGPS updates are force ticked by Tomtom... Deselect any other updates like Maps, Speed Cams etc... Update the mandatory item/s first, when complete update the remaining items one at a time
Note... NAV(5 Wi-Fi) devices connected over Wi-Fi do not require MyDrive Connect to be running Even if MyDrive is running you have no access the MyDrive Connect menu structures as used by the previous NAV3 & 4 devices

Option... (2) Connected USB
If Wi-Fi is not available or is slow/unstable/unreliable.....
Tomtom recommends a minimum Wi-Fi download speed of 30Mbps
Connecting hard-wired over USB is normally more reliable than any Over The Air Connections
Updating your new device over USB will require "MyDrive Connect"
Get MyDrive Connect Here..... https://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/12428
Install and Run MyDrive Connect... Tip... 'NEVER' have your Tomtom device connected to your PC USB port while you are installing MyDrive Connect... The USB Drivers may not install correctly....
There's no need to login to MyDrive Connect... See Note... (1)
Connect your Device to a USB Port on your PC
The Update will hopefully complete
If you're using a Laptop it would be also more advisable to use a hard-wire connection back from the Laptop to the Router....

Note... (1) MyDrive Connect will only show a "Splash screen" saying "Connect your device using Wi-Fi" etc....
If required you can close the 'Main Mydrive Window' showing the "Connect your device using Wi-Fi" Splash screen... MyDrive Connect only needs to run in the background on the PC Taskbar... The NAV(5 Wi-Fi) devices have no access the MyDrive Menu structures as used by the previous NAV3 & 4 devices
Updating a NAV5 (Wi-Fi) device using USB is the same as using Wi-Fi, all the update actions are executed on the device...
Tap the 4Dot (.... Menu) --> Setting --> Updates & New Items
Extra Maps are Installed/Maintained... Tap the 4Dot(.... Menu) --> Setting --> Maps

Hi and thank you for the quick answer.
I understand perfectly that tomtom NAV5 structure is different from NAV4, and prefer wi fi connections instead usb connection, but I think is very strange that I cannot use my pc to configure or look inside tomtom via pc the contents inside the device...If I would like to change the maps, or download GigaBytes of information, the only way is via Wi fi connections!?!? it looks like a little bit strange.
I've said that it's strange because my cousin has the same rider550 but different OS (Mac OS), and he can connect the device via USB cable, import routes, change maps..etc!
If what You are sayng is correct, why under Mac OS my drive connect runs normally and under Windows not???! WI fi is wi fi...the OS doesn't matter!..the same think referred to User Guide Interface! Don't you think?
So I think that is not the NAV5 but something about the OS...windows10 in my case. Probably due to wrong windows 10 drivers.

Just a thought ??? Does your cousin have the earlier NAV4 Rider 450 (Updates over USB)
The NAV5 Rider 550 (Wi-Fi) Updates as in my original reply...
The NAV(5 Wi-Fi) devices have no access the MyDrive Menu structures as used by the previous NAV3 & 4 devices
Updating a NAV5 (Wi-Fi) device using USB is the same as using Wi-Fi, all the update actions are executed by the Menus on the device...

Spent a while trying to figure it out myself, as my TomTom was also not appearing in device manager under Windows 10. In the end, just disconnected the usb cable from the PC, pressed the "reset" button on the TomTom, restarted the Tom Tom , reconnected the usb cable and lo and behold it asked me whether I wanted to connect to the PC. FINALLY!!
Please Tom Tom pin this resolution for others, or even myself in a few years, as I've just wasted a good 2hrs of my life sorting this out.0
