Cannot use MyDrive Connect with my TomTom Go Premium

AmiBoAmiBo Posts: 16 [Outstanding Explorer]
Probably a stupid question, but no one seems to be able to help me. According to the manual I should be able to use My Drive Connect to download new files to my computer (MacBook Air) instead of directly (via built-in wifi) to my TomTom Go Premium device. I can not establish any contact between device and computer (via USB). Anyone knew – for certain – is it possible or not to use MyDrive connect together with TomTom Go Premium? Updates? Downloads? In any case?

    Hi
    @AmiBo

The NAV5 (Wi-Fi) devices like your Go Premium normally update using Wi-Fi...
Tomtom recommend a minimum Wi-Fi download speed of 30Mbps
    Tomtom NAV5 (Wi-Fi) devices will only connect to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network

Note... All the update actions are executed on the device...

If Wi-Fi is not available or is slow/unstable/unreliable.....
See Option... (2) Connect over USB

Note... NAV(5 Wifi) devices connected over Wifi do not require MyDrive Connect to be running Even if myDrive is running you have no access the MyDrive Connect menu structures as used by the previous NAV3 & 4 devices

Thank You YamFazMan your answer exceeds the answers I have tried to get from TomTom Support...
My real problem is I can not download anything to my device (Go Premium) since beginning of December, I only get the message "Ooops, something went wrong, try again. OK.
Previously (since August) all download have worked smoothly, direct connection to wifi via router or iPhone..
I have been i numerous contacts with TomTom Chat support, I have had my device sent to service (flawless...). I have got the advice – a number of times – to leave my device connected to Internet during 24-hours sessions and the update will be done remotely. So has not happend...
I am looking for all possible ways to override this problem. The downloads that are pending is "System Cpdate" (mandatory), Maps (Europa), speed Cameras and Charging stations". I can not download any. I have tried to disable all but "System", same message, "Oooops..."
Can I have ANY use at all of MyDrive connect? I have tried to connect to Internet via MyDrive–MacBook–device, but see no sign of contact.
Support says they can see my downloads that are waiting for me, and that's it.
    Any ideas? (You seem experienced...)
    Kind Regards
