How do I retrieve the Latitude and Longitude of a favourite

Wojja62Wojja62 Posts: 3 [Neophyte Traveler]
On my old Tomtom One IQ, I could get the latitude and longitude to show at the bottom left of the map page but I have not found how to access the lat. and long. of a 'favourite' on my new Tomtom Go Essential. HELP!! :-)

    Hi
    @Wojja62

    See... Option (2)
See the MDW Route planner... https://mydrive.tomtom.com

(1)... To convert Marked Location to a MyPlace...
Firstly... On the device Convert your Marked locations to MyPlaces
Tap 4Dot (.... Menu) --> MyPlaces --> Marked locations... Tap on the Marked location & follow the on-screen instructions... edit or accept the offered name
Repeat for the other Marked Locations

(2)... Convert MyPlaces on the device to... Coordinates....
Open the MDW Route planner & login with Email & Password
Your new MyPlaces will sync to the MDW Route planner
    Go to your MyPlaces list
Click on the required MyPlace... The Map will Zoom in with your MyPlace centred on the screen
The the https:// link contains the Coordinates
Note... If the newly synced Myplaces are no longer requires delete using the Tiny Trash Can Icon
Note... Ignore the .16 at the end if refers to the present Zoom level of the MDW Route planner screen

Tip... You can Copy & Paste the MDW Coordinates (Not the whole https:// link) to Google Maps for more info

    Hi
    @Wojja62

As is my post above... When you click on a MyPlace in the list... The Map screen auto Zooms & Auto Centres

If you want a Near as dammit Coordinate... For say a 'Stop' or a Point on the Map
Have the MDW Route planner full screen
Zoom the Map in to the require detail (Recommend Zoom level 16 (18 is Max Zoom)
Left click on the Location and drag the location near as dammit to the Screen centre
The the https:// link contains the Coordinates
Note... Ignore the .16 at the end if refers to the present Zoom level of the MDW Route planner screen
Tip... You can Copy & Paste the MDW Coordinates (Not the whole https:// link) to Google Maps for more info

Dear YamFazMan, Thanks for your reply! If I have understood what you are saying, the method you describe above needs a computer attached to the internet (or a tablet or a phone or something!). (Please tell me what MDW stands for!)
What I am hoping to find is a way using only the Satnav Go Essential. I don't own a smart phone! And my computer is a desktop at home. Surely, the device ought to be able to do this while I'm out on the road. It is more fully featured than my old TomTom One IQ!

Following, as it's useless if an external computer is needed.
Typical usecase: you got stuck with your car and you need to give your geo coordinates to the car service so they can come and pick you up :)

To see your current Latitude/Longitude on your GO 5100 see page 61 of the manual http://download.tomtom.com/open/manuals/new_GO/refman/TomTom-GO-EU-RG-en-gb.pdf
To plan a route using a pair of coordinates, do the following:
    1. Select the Main Menu button to open the Main Menu.
    2. Select Search.
The search screen opens with the keyboard showing.
    3. Select the type of search button to the right of the search box.
    4. Select Latitude Longitude.
    5. Type in your pair of coordinates. You can enter any of these coordinate types:
     Decimal values, for example:
    N 51.51000 W 0.13454
    51.51000 -0.13454[/qoute]

The example given on your device at stage 5 are your current coordinates

Dear Niall, Thank you for your input but I don't think it supplies an answer to my question! :-(
Just using my Go Essential, how do I find the co-ordinates of one of the favourites it holds? ... Or even of some point on its map? I don't want to have to go there to achieve this!!

    Hi
    @Wojja62

MDW Route Planner = MyDrive Web Route planner...
See Here... Click on link... https://mydrive.tomtom.com

It's not possible to find the Coordinates of a MyPlace/Favorite by only using your Go Essential...
Your Go Essential will only show the Coordinates for your Present Location.....

    As Niall says....
    Coordinates of your present location.....
Tap on the four dot Icon (....) (Bottom left screen)
    Tap Search Icon
Tap (Top right on screen) Tap Whole map Note…… On some units (I think) it says Installed Maps
    Scroll down
    Tap Latitude Longitude Icon
When the device has a "GPS Satellite lock"
The Latitude and Longitude shown on the screen as an example is the
Live Coordinate for your present location
