The deice does charge when plugged into the house mains but charge leaks over a period of time when not on charge. Is it likley to be a bteerry problem or does the mount need replaceing please?
Looks like it. Maybe a visit to Youtube and see how to replace and Ebay or Amazon etc for a battery and the tools to do it with. Thats all assuming after you watch the video you feel confident enough to try it yourself rather than get it repaired.
I did try through the USB connection but I understand that this does not provide enough power to run the device. I did try attaching it to a power pack and that failed also.
Sorry if I did not make myself clear. I meant remove the cable from the Mount and attach it directly to the unit when you are charging it in the car via the supplied Car charger in the Cigarette socket to see if it charges okay that way..
Mounts have been known to fail and so trying that will determine whether the unit will change okay when not on the mount.
Sorry, I was not as clear as I should be. Yes I did try that and it still failed. I think this answers the question for me - it must be the battery. Many thanks for taking the trouble to respond.

Have you checked whether the unit charges okay if you connect the cable directly to it as that will determine if the problem is the mount.

I have seen the video and I don't feel capable of doing that. I have found a company on line at https://www.tomtomrepairteam.co.uk/sat-nav-repairs/tomtom-repairs/battery-replacements/battery-replacement-service-tomtom-go-6100.html
That replaces batteries so I may try them. If anyone has had any dealings with them (SatNav Specialist Ltd.) I should appreciate views.
Thanks
