Still can't find GPS signal after April 6, 2019 NAVCORE update

plejdaplejda Posts: 4 [Apprentice Traveler]
Hello guys,
I tried to solve the problem with "WNRO on April 6, 2019" on my TomTom Start 20. MyDrive Connect installed, all updates are up-to-date and still, the satnav can't find the GPS signal. I tried the soft restart, install and uninstall MDC, and still without any result.

Would you be so kind and help me? Thanks a lot!

    Hi @plejda

Try fully charging for 2 hours then take outside well away from buildings and trees with a clear view of the sky.

Now turn the unit on and when ready to go hold the ON/OFF button down for about 20 seconds until you hear the Drumroll sound then let the button go.and the unit will boot up again.

When the unit has restarted create a route and then place the unit and leave it alone for as much as 30 minutes to see if it locks on to the Sats.

Once it has locked on it should do it much quicker next time. It has been said that if you place the unit on a car roof whilst trying to lock onto the sats that can speed up the process but it is essential that it is well away from obstructions.

If you can keep the unit on charge all the time this is going on then all the better.

    Hope that works.

I appreciate all the ideas you have. I know some Start 20 owners have experienced similar issues, but I couldn't find any of them solved. I also read that TomTom admins can access my TomTom with the product number and find the problem. Is it true?

    Hello again,
last week I decided to buy a new TomTom. I also wanted to try the old one for the last time before I threw it away. I turned it on and after a couple of seconds, it FOUND GPS signal!
    Thank you for your tips!

thing to remember is this... My trusty 12 yr old One XL still works to after the WNRO update, but goes off to sleep, sometimes for a few minutes sometimes for hours. As i drive all over the UK for work I couldnt rely on it and ive had to buy a new one. Your old uit may well still work, like mine does, but just be aware that its liable to go off at anytime. My XL also loses its time as soon as it locks into the satellites so its always midnight. it still calculates the correct journey time, but it doesnt give an arrival time anymore, just time on route so yuou have to mentally calculate it.
