MyDrive disconnect during update

So... another bug with the device ?
I connect using the USB cable the device to my Surface PRO (and yes I did the fix for the USB going into sleep mode issue). I launch the update, it loads a couple of % of update to the device then stops claiming that the device is disconnected... when it is still visible in windows (USB devices) and the system has not done the disconnect typical sound...

I then disconnect it, it *dings* then I re-connect, it *dings* (windows sounds) and it re-starts the update for another couple of % ...

This is unbelievable !

    Switch your pro into high performance power mode. Hibernate and Sleep have vanished after you did the registry change for power settings haven't they?

    This is crazy. Updating Tom Tom wifi with or without usb cable repeatadly ends in disconnect. It loads up to 23% and then...dead end. This operation is frustrating, a waste of time, totally ineffecient, very very very costly in expensive bandwith...End call: totally useless as I cannot use the device, it keeps asking to load a map and refuses to proceed...I'm looking to buy from another supplier in future...

    Hi
    @Xpert

    Your Wi-Fi... How Reliable/Fast/Slow is the Signal Strength Good/Bad ???

    I have Virgin Media Broadband Fibre Optic 110Mb/s connection....
    My GO 6200 shows Wi-Fi connection... 72Mb/s
    I chose the 110Mb/s hard-wired connection

    I Installed the 9.13GB Full Europe Map over USB with MDC running in the background
    The Map installed and device ready to use... 20 Minutes 15 seconds (Stopwatch)

    Hi
    @Tzaphkiel

    What Model Tomtom device are you trying to update ???

    Re "Download/installation interrupted".....
    The Computer Manufacturers appear to be setting "USB Selective Suspend" to ON as default
    Especially Laptops, maybe to improve the appearance of the battery life

    Are your USB ports set for power saving "USB Selective Suspend"

    Win7 See... http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/147369-usb-selective-suspend-turn-off.html

    Win10 See… https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/73187-turn-off-usb-selective-suspend-windows-10-a.html
    Click on link and scroll down to "Turn Off USB Selective Suspend"

    Also turn off any Screen savers any other Power savers or USB port monitoring software installed

    Random Disconnects on Surface Pro 3 & 4
    Do you have or have access to a 'Surface Dock', if so plug your device into a USB port on that. Others have found that to work

    On the Win10 tablets, Microsoft has hidden the "USB Selective Suspend" menu
    You will need to edit the Registry for the USB Selective Suspend menu to show
