Turn the unit on and when working do a Soft Reset ie hold the ON/OFF button down until you hear the drumroll sound then let the button go.
When it has started again create a route on it and when you would normally be ready to drive off leave it where it is and don't move it for as much aa 30 minutes plus t see if it locks on to the Sats.
It has been found that sitting it on a car roof can speed the result but make sure you do not leave it unattended. If you can provide a power source whilst it was searching then that could be beneficial.
