VIA1535 nota accepting the GPS Fix

the fix doesn't seem to want to stick to the device. i have installed but still see the message "waiting for valid GPS signal" i've done restarts, factory resets etc to no avail. then after leaving the device off for a while next time it is attached to myconnect the GPS fix update becomes visible again?? The GPSfix files are usually offered daily to cover the next seven days.

Try leaving your device in an open stationary position for up to 10-15 minutes. See if you get a satellite lock then.

ok thanks - i didn't realise these were going to be constant fixes. however, we've had the device stationary and tried different things like inside and outside based on other feedback posts. we still haven't been able to get rid of the message "waiting for a valid gps signal"

Here Tomtom FAQ...What's new in the latest software for my navigation device?
    https://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/release_notes/type/navkit

My NAV3 Via120 Live & GO 825 Live both work fine with NavKit Version 12.075

    To check NavKit version....
    From the main menu
    Tap (Settings)
Left Cursor once for next page
    Tap (Me and my device)
    Tap (About my device)
    Second line... App Version
    Follow onscreen prompts to exit

A Drum-roll Soft Start can help.... Hold the ON/OFF Power button in until you hear a Drum-roll sound... Then release the button.... This will reinitialize the devices Operating System, like restarting your PC

Fully charge the Battery (At least 2 Hours)
A low battery can cause GPS Satellite fix problems
Plan a route on the device... Now place the device outside with a clear view to the sky

I have also found with my Car parked on the drive, if I place the device on the centre of the Cars roof, will give a shorter time for the device to obtain it's first GPS Satellite fix... I think the metal roof of the Car acts as a ground-plane for the SatNav GPS Antenna
DON'T FORGET... Keep an eye on the device, you wouldn't want a family member driving off not knowing its on the roof or a Thief walking off with it

I think my problem cannot be solved. I reset my device to factory settings..enabled sharing and connected to MyDrive Connnect. Immediately starting downloading necessary updates. Then the MyDrive Connect showed it was installing the upates. I got real happy... Then the device restarted. Only for MyDrive Connect to go back to the Downloading page and again stuck on Getting ready. No updates were done on the device even tho it looked as tho it was being done. I GIVE UP. AND NO ASSISTANCE FRIM TOM TOM SUPPORT itself.

    Hi @Intrepidtraveller

Why are you posting here. Your profile says you have an 825 and you have been posting elsewhere about it today.

Is your post about a Via 1535 if so please advise so we know this is definitely a different question??
