I have imported an .ov2 file onto my TomTom Go 620 and I have noticed they are sorted on my device by distance. Is there a way can sort my poi's alphabetically?

Hi
@meh
Sorry 'No' they are in distance order as the crow flies
But the search engine is excellent you usually only need to type around three characters of the POI name for a hit...
For example... I have loaded the 3rd party POI's for the National Trust... To show the POI's for "National Trust" on the map, work your way down to option (2)
From the main screen
Tap (....)4Dot Icon (Screen Bottom left)
Swipe left or Tap the mid/right edge of the screen to go to and tap the MyPlaces Icon
Scroll down and select the required POI Category For example "National Trust"
You now have three options
The Main search area turns blue and "National Trust" is offered with a flashing cursor
Continue typing the name of the required "National Trust" site, Type Dud (Or as much of the word that's required for Dudmaston Hall appear at the top of the National trust list)
Tap on the offered Dudmaston Hall and select the Drive Icon
You also have two further options.....
After the initial "National Trust" POI selection
There's a dual Icon (screen bottom right) with Three Lines and Two circles
(1)..... Tap the three Lines Icon (bottom right screen) and a list will appear of the "National Trust" sites in distance order
(2)...... Tap the Two circle Icon for the "National Trust" sites POI's to appear on the screen (Pinch zoom for detail) (Note..... On the Start range its easier to tap the plus and minus buttons to zoom the map screen)
as far as I'm aware it will show the nearest 60ish POI's around your location
There is also a Keyboard Icon (screen bottom right) to return to the search window from the options (1) and (2)
An example of the generic Icons on the search screen, the Icons are dynamic so the closer you zoom more icons appear

Hi meh,
No, the TomTom will show you the POIs in distance order (as the crow flies and not by road). This is normally how the users want the data displayed.
As YamFazMan has pointed out, you can use the search engine to find a specific POI.
If you want an alphabetical sort of your POIs then your best bet is to convert the .ov2 file into a .csv file and load it into Excel and then sort the relevant name column for your list.
I do not keep any POIs in my Favourites. I have a number of master lists for different POI categories in MS Excel and I regularly add new POIs to them. I capture the coordinates of the new sites either when I am at a site locally, or remotely when back home by using Google Earth or Open Street Map. I then convert the file to .ov2.
The benefits of master lists are that I have them on my computer if the TomTom were ever to fail, I can manipulate the data as much as I want to, I have separate columns for sub-categories, the data such as name, phone number, sub-categories are all stored in separate columns to be merged into one for the .ov2 file. You can search for the name of a specific POI or a group of similar POIs (via their sub-category).
It would be very useful to be able to assign unique .bmp icons to each POI category file on current TomTom SatNav products like we used to be able to do on the old TomTom NAV2 devices 10 years ago! This would allow you could see the POIs on both the map and navigation screens
