Second hand GO6100 - What do I need to watch out for?

Hi all,
I have the chance of a used GO6100, originally with lifetime world maps and lifetime traffic (built in SIM).
What, if any, pitfalls/pratfalls do I need to be aware of, and chiefly, does the "lifetime" maps and 'Traffic' transfer to the new owner (i.e. me, if I bought it), or did that only apply to the person who originally bought the GO6100?
Also though, is there anything else I need to know? I guess, things like size of onboard memory and potential life expectancy (in terms of updates etc), and any other quirks and foibles that would be useful to know.
Thanks in advance,
White Sapphire

Hi @WhiteSapphire
The World maps option is tied to the serial number of the GO6100 so whoever owns the unit has the option to load the maps. The only caveat is that Traffic only works within the region that the Unit was first Purchased in. ie if bought in the UK Traffic works throughout Europe.
The Internal memory is 8gb so there is already a problem getting the Full European maps available, with or without buildings etc , to fit on the internal memory as they are circa 8+gb. The solution this is to fit a Micro SD card Class 10 either 16gb or Max 32Gb then you have plenty of memory to load the maps onto. The European map will load onto the extra memory but the Australian Map will go on the Internal memory as there will be enough space.
One other issue could be that if you want to Export a Route from the GO6100 recorded/created on the unit then the map has to be on the Internal memory. I think you can load Individual European maps for example so they will fit on the internal memory if you need to resolve this issue.
The GO6100 has the internal Mobile Sim so if you load Poi and Route Files into your account on MyDrive or send a destination to the unit it can receive this data anywhere it has a mobile signal.
If you log the GO6100 into the same Account as you have for your GO60 it will Sync all the Poi, Route files from the account. One thing though is if you Send a destination to the GO6100. from your PC or Phone appp it will also send it to your GO60if you still have it and it is on the same account. This could happen when whoever is using the GO60 is mid journey changing the route as they drive. The solution is to only log into the MyDrive account on the 2 units when you need to sync to the account this does not stop Traffic working.
Regarding life expectancy who knows. There is more internal memory and the ability to add up to 32gb external so plenty of space for more software and maps etc.
Hope that helps.

Hi Doug,
That seems like a comprehensive synopsis, thank you.
Good point, about where it was originally bought. It's in the UK now, and as far as I am aware, always was, but I'll check that out first. As to syncing with the GO60, that could be a bonus since the plan is to keep it in one car and use the 6100 in the other.
I was just a shade mindful of its age (dated around 2016/17) and wondered about its future longevity, but as you say, I guess it's down to ever growing map size and the 32Gb limit on the SD card size.
Potentially, it's mine for £100 from a well respected local second hand shop.

Re... Syncing routes between NAV4 & NAV5 Wi-Fi) Devices...
As far as I'm aware there is NOT a restriction when Syncing routes between NAV4 & NAV5 Wi-Fi) Devices, that require the Active Map to be installed on the Onboard Memory
The Active Map can be on the Onboard Memory or a Memory Card
The only restriction I'm aware of is... To be able to use a Pre-Planned route, the route location, must be the same as the Active Map
i.e.. An Australian Route, needs the Australian Map, to be Active on the device
For example....
Planning your Routes
Switch to the UK &ROI Map and plan your Route/s on the device or the Tomtom MyDrive Web Route planner... Here https://mydrive.tomtom.com
Save your planned routes
Me visiting Australia
The greyed out routes, are routes, not on current Map, they are in the UK
The Planned Route Ayres Rock to Phillip island Race Circuit
Switched back to the UK&ROI Map
Now the greyed out Ayres Rock to Phillip island Race Circuit route is Not on current Map
