Registering my new product Go Basic 60

cs211254cs211254 Posts: 3 [Apprentice Traveler]
Hi
Losing the will to live with what should be a very simple thing to do.
I want to register my new Go Basic 60 but I am getting to pages that tell me to do things that nothing happens.
https://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/account/details.html takes me to
https://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/account/details.html when I select how to add your product
The get started link tomtom.com/getstarted takes me to https://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/getstarted/p/4722
Tryng to find a contact number for Tomtom from their website is equally challenging!
I have had 2 Tomtom satnavs before and have never had any problem.
Are they hoping that people wont register so that if it breaks they can say " ah! you didn't register it " that is assuming you can find contact details to speak to them!
Thanks in advance for your answers.

    Hi @cs211254

Your GOBasic is a Wifi device, it doesn't work like your previous devices.

    You update your device:
    - directly with Wifi without using your computer.
    or
    - with your computer only for the internet connection by installing before the program MyDrive Connect.

In both solutions, all the management and the launching of the updates are managed in the device. Don't do them all at the same time. The NaVCore first alone, then the map alone, then the speed cameras, etc...
During the download, connect your device to a power source, a main charger (2A smartphone) or a PC only for power.

In this link, point N°5 'Easy updating using Wi-Fi'
    https://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/getstarted/p/4722

You have 'Learn more about updating your device.' who sends you here, read the FAQ and watch the video:
    https://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22781

To connect to your TomTom account, it's also in your device (register your new device)
==> Main Menu (4Dots....)/Settings/My Drive/ your email and passworld
    http://download.tomtom.com/open/manuals/GO_Basic/html/en-gb/index.htm#LoggingintoMyDrive-Prato.htm

    Otherwise, to contact TomTom support:

Thank you for your reply. I have now connected to the wi-fi. I have tried logging in with my username and password which I created on the pc.
I receive the following message on the sat nav
    "oops
We are having trouble accessing tomtom services. Please try again later"
    Please advise.
    Thanks

Is your GO Basic connected to the PC/Laptop using the USB lead as a power supply??? and Is MyDrive Connect running in the Background ??? if 'Yes'....
The USB connection will take priority over the W-Fi connection

The NAV5 Wi-Fi devices require registration login over Wi-Fi
Use a alternate power supply to power your device while logging in with your username and password or fully charge the device for 2 Hours and log in with your username and password with the device running on its own power

    You can also try...
With your device not connected to your PC/Laptop
Right Click on the Tomtom icon on the PC Taskbar to access the Setting menu and Click 'Quit' to exit MyDrive Connect
Connect you device to your PC/Laptop... Turn your device (Should Auto Start)
Tap Tap 4Dot (.... Menu) --> Wi-Fi should be active... login with your username and password
