updating a tomtom GO 6100

I have not updated for a while, and finaly got around to do it.
i am connected direct to the wireless in my home.
The unit has been connected for 3 days and ,as yet, have not been able to update my maps or anything!
on the computer using my home app, it says downloaded and checking, but thats it. When i unplug the unit, it says servers busy.
Am i missing something here?
There must be a way to factory reset my unit and try it again?
Also, now the tomtom says connected, but the mydrive software says not so....confused!!
