Apple Health Integration
If I go into Sports "Manage", then "connected apps" I have the option to turn on or off Apple Health with the dialogue "use your phone to track your activity". This implies that Sports will send the data that it records to the Apple Health app.
Sports

However, if I then go into Apple Health and then Sources -> Sports, there is no option to "Allow "Sports" to write data", only for it to read data (i.e. Apple Health can send data to Sports, but cannot receive data from Sports). This seems to be the opposite of what most users would wish.

Is this deliberate, or a glitch? Is it going to be remedied?

I hope this helped answer your question. If so, please mark it as a solution so others can look for it if they have the same question.
I'm not sure that I agree. I wear my watch all the time, but don't carry my large iPhone 7 plus around with me all the time, so I would like to be able to send all my data across to other apps that track steps for instance, such as Lose It!
I turned off steps being transferred across. It feels like it duplicates the watch, if I have them with me at the same time.
I have my watch on all the time - I leave my phone on my desk or in my bag most of the time. Looking at the past week, the Apple health only picks up a portion of my steps and so I can't rely on that to give me data.
Is it an Apple health reason or a TomTom reason why you can't upload TomTom to Apple Health?
