Hi
I wonder if anyone has experienced this and has a fix?
I purchased my car second hand and love the built-in tomtom, but would like the LIVE services. But Tomtom advise that the SIM card has been deactivated which happens after 2 years of no LIVE subscriptions.
They suggested I contact my local Renault dealer and see if they can replace the SIM Card and reconnect it to the Tomtom servers.
But when speaking with the Renault dealer, they have no idea about it.
Tomtom even suggested that another option could be to replace the whole unit.
This all seems very crazy to me and I can't believe there isn't a way of getting this SIM Card updated or even better, reconnected.
Any advice would be very much appreciated, as this is driving me mad! lol
Many thanks
Happy.

Thank you for the web links.
I get why TT turn it off because of running costs, but I hoping there is a solution to replace the SIM Card, but I'm finding it very hard to get an answer from any of my local Renault dealers.0 -
I fear you are doomed to disappointment. The Carminat satnav is no longer current and it was only supported by TomTom. They are correct in saying your only option is fitting and connecting a new SIM, but I bet there's very little chance of you finding anybody in Renault with the know-how as I guess none of them will have ever had to deal with one except as a complete unit.0

Sadly I am finding this. Every Renault dealer I speak with has no idea what I’m even talking about! :-(
It's looking like a lost
cause, unfortunately.
Only other option, but think it will be too expensive is a specialist in auto electrics!0 -
The Carminat is now at least 5 years obsolete, even more so in different Renault models, as it was phased out in favour of a new system, Renault R-Link TomTom starting around 2010, I think (my Kangoo got it in 2013). Which is not supported by TomTom and generally beyond the competence of many Renault dealerships!0

I doubt the auto electrics specialist would be able to get around activating a new SIM.0

I feel that is going to be the case, it's a real shame! :-(1

Hiya, did you ever manage to get anywhere with this?0

I had a similar issue with mine, it was disabled as I hadn't used it in a while but due to increased driving I started using it again. I rang TomTom UK (the Renault carminat team knew nothing!) and the nice lady I spoke to reactivated the sim card. It took a couple of days for everything to start working so it is certainly possible as I've done it.1

If your Sim card has been deactivated by the operator, it is no longer possible to reactivate it.0

@petree Hi, can you share more details how to activate it, please? Is it possible by online support? Thanks
He replaced physical sim card in the device - and he pays for the internet on this sim card separately (this won't be covered by TomTom in case of replacement) and bought subscription to live services separately0
