I am a recent owner of a GO6200. I would like to know how on my SatNav I can transfer a POI file to Favourites. I am using TYRE to download the POI ov2 file from a website to MyDrive using the "copy to TomTom but I am unable to download it as a TYRE Favourites file. So the download is posted in MyPlaces under Marked Locations which consequently does not allow the various Poi locations to automatically appear along an active route as being driven.
I am trying to do this with my laptop (Win7).
Is there anybody who could advise me how to do this?
Regards

Hi
@Silvertourer
See Tomtom Support Video....
How to import POIs, GPX files and Favourites in MyDrive
______________________________
I use this method as a workaround for my "_Favorite Catagory"... Your POI Category titles could be anything you choose
Create a POI Category with your Favorite places
Using your PC to build your own MyPlaces (Favorites) Database and load them into your Go
Download the Free Tyre to Travel Basic..... http://www.tyretotravel.com/download-tyre/
Tyre To Travel uses Google Maps and the large screen on your PC to view the maps, it easier than to scrolling around the screen of your Tomtom GO to find your MyPlaces (Favorites)
(1)..... Run Tyre to Travel
Wait for Tyre to stop being busy
(2).....Double Click on the Tyre map at the position you would like to create a POI (Favorite) or use the yellow box in Tyre to search for addresses postcodes etc...
(3)….. To prevent double entry's in MyPlaces on the GO, when you are planning POI's (_Favorites), edit the names of your POI's so they each POI has a unique name that means something to you or modify the Name offered by Tyre so it becomes unique
(3.1)..... When you have finished compiling your list,
(3.2)….. From the Tyre "File Tab" select "Convert to a TomTom POI File”(3.3)….. From the Tyre "File Tab” Select “Save as" I saved my file to the Desktop as "_Favorites (Note "_Favorites.ov2" The Underscore before the "_F" is not displayed on the Tomtom screen, but it forces the POI category to the top of the list
Note: Saving a file is the only way I have found to give the file the name you want rather than the default name, it’s also handy to have a backup of your .Ov2 file on your PC
(4.0)..... Use My Drive to load your New Favorites POI Category to your device
Using MyDrive.....
You can now delete the MyPlaces that aren't required (Saves the MyPlaces blue star screen clutter) and use your New Favorites POI Category instead
If needed, you can search a POI Category: See.....

Thanks YamFazMan. I will follow that through but I get my file of POIs off a website which I download to Tyre but it is at that point that it seems to restrict the file to being a Tyre POI file as there is not the option to convert it to Tyre Favourites. To create this file from the Tyre map or any other map would take ages. There are 5000 individual POI locations within this POI file.
However I will look at your approach in more detail.
The problem with the GO6200 is that to create Favourites using the device has to be done with individual physical points (addresses/postcodes/coordinates).
Life was so much easier with my old GO910.0 -
Hi
@Silvertourer
My first post is How to create a Personal POI Category to replace the long list of MyPlaces and remove the MyPlaces Blue Star Icon screen clutter

If you wish to install a 3rd Party POI Category Like Archie's Camping & Caravanning POIs
You simply Download the .Ov2 POI Category and install the file using the MyDrive Web Route planner

Hi YamFazMan, From what you are saying in the 1st part of your last message it would seem that you cannot download a 3rd party file of POIs to appear as you proceed along a Route and that if such a file is downloaded it will only appear under GO6200 POIs which you then have to interrogate as you proceed along your Route as Nearest etc.
I would be prepared to accept the "blue star" clutter on the map when travelling to get round this but then I am still left with the issue, how do I get the 3rd party POI file onto my GO6200 and where would it sit in MyPlaces.
The difference I find between the GO6200 and my old GO910 is that you cannot open the 6200 on your PC/laptop to interrogate its files so you could drag in files to favourites/POIs, as the GO6200 does not appear in"Computer" as a connected device. Unless somebody knows how to do this on a Windows m/c.0 -
Hi
@Silvertourer
I think we are talking at cross purposes.... POIs, MyPlaces and Favorites are all being mixed up
You want to load a 3rd Party POI Category and display the Icons on the driving map
Firstly you can't display the 3rd Party associated .BNP Icon on the Map
However you can display a set of Tomtom generic Icons on the Map
Firstly Load your 3rd Party POI Category using the MyDrive Web Route Planner
The 3rd Party POI Category will appear in alphabetical order under the list of of MyPlaces in the MyPlaces Menu
After installing your 3rd Party POI Category
On your GO 6200...
Tap on the 4Dot(....Menu) Icon --> Setting --> Appearance --> Show POI Lists on the map
Tap your 3rd Party POI Category... Say 'Archie's Europe'
Select a Tomtom generic Icon Say the 'Green Diamond'
The pomps say a restart is required (But I have found it to be unnecessary)
Archie's 3rd Party POIs displayed with a Tomtom generic Icon 'Green Diamond'
Tap on one of the Generic Icons for more Info...
The Map zooms into the POI Location
A Quick Menu opens with a Blue 'Drive to' Icon + A 3Dot Icon
Tap the 3Dot Icon other planning options
You can use one Tomtom generic Icon for more than one POI Category i.e... Lump all your Fuel POI under the same Icon

Hi yamfazman, First to repeat that I am a newbie. I had your message on my tablet and using my laptop started to go through the procedure that you presented. Got to the My Places and POIs loaded and searched for the ....menu icon and could not find it. Searched everywhere but no joy. Started to get dispondent and then looked down to the next bit of the procedure and thought "I've seen that screen elsewhere" and realised that it was a GO6200 screen?. Opened up the 6200 and all was revealed and so easy.
So a very big THANK YOU.
From your examples you wouldn't by any chance be a MoHo-er in Worcester?0 -

I see you have 'Archies Europe' added as a POI. I just added the 'Bordatlas' POI set and despite there being over 6,000 places I only see about 60 within a 34km radius. The file is 425kb so no problem with space.
Any idea why it's only showing such a small number?0 -
Hi
@BodgerBaz
You use the MyDrive Web Route planner
Here... https://mydrive.tomtom.com
See Tomtom Video... How to import POIs, GPX files and Favourites in MyDrive
Displaying Personal POIs on the Driving View/Map
Be aware... You can't install the POI associated .BMP files
You can only use the Tomtom supplied generic Icons
But you can use one icon for for more than one POI category i.e... place all your fuel categories under one Icon, then if you tap on a nearby 'say' Fuel Icon a Quick menu opens --> Tap the 3Dot Icon for more options & more Information
Setup... After installing your Personal or 3rd party POIs....Tap 4Dot (....Menu) --> Settings --> Appearance --> Show POI lists on the Map
It says a restart is required, but I've never found it to be necessary
After choosing the Generic Icon.. Tap the coloured (^) Icon screen top right... Pinch zoom the Map, the Generic POI Icons all appear live and working
Note... The Generic POI Icons disappear when the Map is highly zoomed out (I guess so you can scroll around a clear Map to find your location)
The Icon reappear as you zoom back in again

Hi
@BodgerBaz
Mabe useful Searching a 3rd Party POI....
You can show the individual POIs of a POI category on the search screen as a list
You can search for an individual POI within a POI category and show the individual POIs of a POI category on the search screen Map
For example... I have loaded the 3rd party POI's for the National Trust... To show the POI's for "National Trust" on the map, work your way down to option (2)
From the main screen
Tap (....)4Dot Icon (Screen Bottom left)
Swipe left or Tap the mid/right edge of the screen to go to and tap the MyPlaces Icon
Scroll down and select the required POI Category For example "National Trust"
You now have three options
The Main search area turns blue and "National Trust" is offered with a flashing cursor
Continue typing the name of the required "National Trust" site, Type dud(maston) (Or as much of the word that's required for Dudmaston Hall appear at the top of the National trust list
Tap on Dudmaston Hall and select the Drive Icon
You also have two further options.....
After the initial "National Trust" POI selection
There's a dual Icon (screen bottom right) with Three Lines and Two circles
(1)..... Tap the three Lines Icon (bottom right screen) and a scrollable list will appear of the "National Trust" sites in distance order
(2)...... Tap the Two circle Icon for the "National Trust" sites POI's to appear on the screen (Pinch zoom for detail) (Note..... On the Start range its easier to tap the plus and minus buttons to zoom the map screen)
as far as I'm aware it will show the nearest 60ish POI's around your location
There is also a Keyboard Icon (screen bottom right) to return to the search window from the options (1) and (2)
The POI Icons are generic and dynamic the Icons change with the zoom level
If your searching for a 3RD party POI Category say a "Burger King" restaurant, the displayed generic Icons will all be for "Burger King" so using the present system you don't need the "Burger King" Logo
You can of course tap one of the generic Icons to open a quick menu
With the name of the POI... The option to Drive there
Plus a 3Dot Quick Menu Icon with further options
