Go 520 Wifi Slow Screen Updates

When driving, I'm finding the screen update rate is quite slow. It is not uncommon for me to have taken a turn on to a road or off a roundabout and find the screen icon still thinks I am about to turn and then updates a few seconds later when I am down the road.
It is quite frustrating when approaching a turn off and you have a couple of options for the screen icon to provide an incorrect position relating to the turn off you need to take.
Are there any settings which can be changed to speed this up?

Hi
@aint_no_crazy_fool
How much free memory space is on the device... 400MB is supposedly the bare minimum
Tap the 4Dot (.... Menu) --> Setting --> System --> About... Scroll down

Have you tried a Drum roll restart on the device ????

Charge the device for at least 2Hrs "OR" have the device plugged into a power supply
Press and hold the on/off button until you hear a drum-roll sound then release the on/off button.
You won’t lose anything; it’s just like rebooting your PC
I use a Soft/drum-roll start after any upgrade large or small.
It’s also useful to keep in mind for sorting out most minor niggles......

Hi,
It only has 252mB memory left so I guess this will probably have an impact???
I see that it has a memory card slot in the bottom so I'm guessing this is for additional map storage. If I put a card in here, do I have to specifically install the maps to that card or doesn't it matter whether the free memory is system or memory card?0 -
Hi
@aint_no_crazy_fool
The Go 520 Wifi has 16GB onboard memory, how many Maps have you got installed ???
Maybe delete some of the none essential ones

I only have two maps installed Europe (7.81GB) and USA (5.29GB)!!
When I get within the wifi range it also keeps asking to install updates which amount to around 5-6GB too - I've no idea where it is going to put them if I let it do the update...0 -
Hi
@aint_no_crazy_fool
A map update will replace the existing Map/s... The new Maps will inevitably larger than the old
I see you're UK based you could delete the America Map or install the America Map onto a Micro SDHD a Card Class 10 16GB ScanDisk card gives good results

Thanks for this, I'll have a look at a SD card, I think - shouldn't cost too much for a 16GB or 32GB...0

@aint_no_crazy_fool
16 Gb is sufficient, some 32 Gb have been found to be troublesome, for installation see my guide https://en.discussions.tomtom.com/go-800-1000-2000-series-via-series-start-20-and-60-series-mydrive-19/formatting-a-micro-sdhc-card-9902560 -
I now have my SD card installed and am looking to use the TomTom MyDrive Connect software to move the maps, clean up etc.
When I install and open the TomTom MyDrive Connect software I get this:
There are no options next to the TomTom symbol in the upper left like there is if you look at the images here https://en.discussions.tomtom.com/news-and-announcements-37/mydrive-connect-desktop-app-update-988212
Any ideas?

Different devices...…..
The 520 is using WiFi and all updates are done using the device, not MyDriveConnect.
You CAN update using the usb connection of the device connected to the computer but MyDriveConnect must be minimized.0 -

So is there no cleanup wizard facility to reduce map sizes or any way to move the maps from the main memory on to the memory card?0 -
I think the map moving option is done on the device, if needed.
But confirm the process with support:
