How do you get GPSfix updates when you do not have a computer to connect the Tom Tom?

Unless your model is capable of WiFi, you can't get any updates without utilizing MyDriveConnect.
(curious, what did you use to make your post?)0 -
Of course, how narrow minded I seem to be, eh?0

Hi
@XR107
Is the Via 280 a Live device ???... In the past the the Live devices used to get 'Quick GPSfix' updates OTA (Over the air) The information was good for 4 Days
I assume this service still applies ???

If you are having problems getting a Satellite Fix....
Have you tried a Drum roll restart on the device ????

Charge the device for at least 2Hrs "OR" have the device plugged into a power supply
Press and hold the on/off button until you hear a drum-roll sound then release the on/off button.
You won’t lose anything; it’s just like rebooting your PC
I use a Soft/drum-roll start after any upgrade large or small.
It’s also useful to keep in mind for sorting out most minor niggles......
If possible, for the for the first Satellite fix, go outside with a clear view of the Sky

@YamFazMan
In Australasia:-
"AU">Via 160 / 260 / 280, 2GB + micro-SDHC, MyDrive Connect
"AW">Via 260 / 280, 4GB + micro-SDHC, MyDrive Connect
"BN">Via 180 260 / 280, 4GB + micro-SDHC, MyDrive Connect
"BO">Via 260 / 280, 4GB + micro-SDHC, MyDrive Connect
In Europe:-
"AU">Via 120, 4GB + micro-SDHC, MyDrive Connect NAV3
"AW">Via 130 / 135, 4GB + micro-SDHC, MyDrive Connect NAV3
"BN">Via 125, 4GB + micro-SDHC, MyDrive Connect NAV3
"BO">Via 130 / 135, 4GB + micro-SDHC, MyDrive Connect NAV3
So it is not a Live device, anyway in Australia the 2G network has closed/is closing0 -
Hi Niall
The OZ 2G shutdown slipped my mind ?

Thanks for the comments and confirmation that you cannot get the updates without access to a computer.
When my Tom Tom starts being unresponsive I check for GPSfix updates, instal the update, do the drum roll and it works like new.
I am going on a road trip and I will not have access to a computer. If I can't install any updates that pop up while away then the TT becomes useless.
Maybe Tom Tom should make it clear that you need a computer if you buy a TT.0 -
The newer models with WiFi do not require a computer for updates.0
