Mountain Pass and Other Road Closures

For a bit of fun and to prove a point that TomTom haven't quite grasped the concept of snow try this;

Open the TomTom (Smartest Route Planner) and navigate from;

TomTom De Ruijterkade to La Rosiere 1850 Montvalezan

11 and a bit hours and 1158 Km

Now enter the same route in a TomTom PND (Not the Smartest Route Planner)

Under 11 hours and 1061 Km

Why the difference, simple, the TomTom Route Planner routes East of Lyon, Chambery, Bourg St Maurice to avoid the closed Petit St Bernard Pass which links La Rosiere 1850 in France to La Thuile in Italy.

The PND (Go 5000/5100) routes via Chamonix, The Mont Blanc Tunnel, La Thuile and the CLOSED Petit St Bernard Pass.

TomTom doesn't use TMC so interprets a temporarily closed road as traffic free and therefore open and fast, so routes using the closed road.
Audi SQ5 OEM nav gets it right so not a problem.

Why this is beyond the wit of TomTom to sort out is a mystery.

Remember a closed road is traffic free because it is closed and is NOT available for the exclusive use of TomTom users.

Cheers
