Hello, thank you it works great under mint 18. Would it be possible to build an eopkg for Solus distribution ? Solus is growing with many switchers from ubuntu. https://solus-project.com/
works! TNX FYI TomTom Sports Connect for Linux works on Ubuntu 17.10
Same here.
TomTom, why not to invest some money and keep this updated to work on our computers.
Linux users can be runners too.
Please, do not disapoint us
Linux users are a minuscule portion of the market so it is simply not worth TT's effort to program for it (and it states a Windows or Mac computer are required right on the box). The solutions that are out there are actually user driven. In any case, TT has left the wearables market so they really have no incentive to pursue this, they are not producing new watches, just selling out the stock they have and then it will be legacy support, I do not see them throwing any money after a market they have all but given up on.
Only got a Spark 3 last weekend, but was very pleased to find this! Thank you so much, hope it keeps its functionality in the future!
PS Is it true you cannot download the activity data through the linux app, but only through the website? I do see an option to check "Show new activities - Open folder when new activities are saved to your computer" but it didn't save my latest run. Is that because I already synced it through my phone? That's probably it... will test later.

Once you sync through your phone you cannot sync again through the computer, the data is already gone. If you want the files on your computer you either need to sync through the computer or download them from MySports after syncing through the app.

Thanks, makes sense! Downloaded it through the website!
Another question: is it true you can't see activities in the Linux app? And does this differ from the Windows and MacOS apps? Just curious, doesn't matter too much. Already happy I could update the watch through the Linux app!

I am not familiar with the Linux app, unfortunately.

The functionality it pretty much identical on all three platforms. There are a couple of difference with the music support as it obviously cannot sync music from iTunes or Windows Media Player, only .m3u files. It is also not as good at detecting when the music volume is mount/unmounted while it's running.

Thank you! Guess the website is meant for checking out activities.
Pleased to say that Sports Connect continues to work with Ubuntu 18.04: https://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/24741
even though it does have dependencies on old versions of gstreamer.
Installed as:
sudo dpkg -i tomtomsportsconnect-3.3.6.x86_64.deb libgstreamer0.10-0_0.10.36-1.5ubuntu1_amd64.deb libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-0_0.10.36-2_amd64.deb
Hi guys,
for those Linux users other than Ubuntu ones (I run Fedora), I made TomTom Sports Connect running from within a docker container, allowing it to run wherever docker is running. Check it https://github.com/PauloASilva/TomTomSportsConnect.
I did it so that I could update TomTom Adventurer sports watch and it worked just fine. Next, I am gonna try to reduce the image size.
Has anyone else had difficulty getting music loaded on their Tom Tom spark using the linux version of connect. The only message I ever get is that I have to reconnect my watch because it is disconnected. I have tried every way to get it to work..
Started the app first then plugged in the watch.
Plugged in the watch then started the app.
No Dice.
I even went into the advanced tag and put in the name of the folder where I was putting tracks and m3u8 files.
Not essential for my use but would like to get it working.
Hi @Saul Bee,
I was not able to use that feature either running Tom Tom Sports Connect native nor the docker version I published. In both case I experienced the exact same behavior you described.
My main goal was to update the TomTom Adventurer, what I did.
Maybe I can take some time to debug this issue in the near future.
@PauloASilva would be good if you could, I will happily test it for the Spark 3. Not sure I can help with any coding.
Like you my primary need is to update runs and the watch itself so music (or podcasts / Audio Books) would just be a bonus.
Hi @Saul Bee
This message usual means that the MUSIC volume is not mounted. The music is stored on the watch in a FAT volume. This should get mounted by the OS in the same way as any other external drive.

I am encountering a problem with the installation of this software in debian 8.
In particular, when I try to install the *.deb package I get the following message
dpkg: warning: parsing file '/var/lib/dpkg/status' near line 40499 package 'tomtomsportsconnect':
missing maintainer
dpkg: warning: parsing file '/var/lib/dpkg/tmp.ci/control' near line 10 package 'tomtomsportsconnect':
missing maintainer
Any idea what the solution to this problem can be?
Really pleased to see Linux supported, I've installed this on Gentoo, using the files extracted from the .deb package. There were some missing lib files, I tried reinstalling gstreamer with the abi_x86_32 USE flag set but that didn't work; found them in the Steam installation so just copied them into /usr/local/TomTomSportsConnect/lib and all is working (apart from Music searching and playlists but will have a look at that later)...
Comments
Getting it working on my laptop was a little more difficult as Sports Connect depends on an old version of a library that is not part of Ubuntu 17.04
The following commands run before installing Sports Connect got things going:
wget http://launchpadlibrarian.net/215074266/libgstreamer0.10-0_0.10.36-1.5ubuntu1_amd64.deb
wget http://launchpadlibrarian.net/185267586/gstreamer0.10-plugins-base_0.10.36-2_amd64.deb
wget http://launchpadlibrarian.net/185267581/libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-0_0.10.36-2_amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i libgstreamer0.10-0_0.10.36-1.5ubuntu1_amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-0_0.10.36-2_amd64.deb

Here is the package request form of Solus
https://solus-project.com/articles/packaging/request-a-package/en/
Or at least can we get sources to build it ?
Thank you
