    Hi
The Previous NAV4 and Latest (NAV5 WiFi) devices are quite power hungry and can go into "Power saving mode" if not supplied with enough power
Even if you recharge them via a mains charger, they will need 1.2 amps when used in your vehicle

(1)... Do NOT use the USB port that built into the dashboard in your vehicle as these normally only supplies 500mAmp and are used for data transfer

(2)... Using an inappropriate 3rd party Car cigarette-lighter Power Adapter... Can mean that the device tries to save on its power requirements by dimming the screen and eventually powers off the device rather than going to sleep

On the Models with a built in SIM, the reduction of power to the SIM can cause the dropping of the traffic info

As a test try using the Tomtom supplied cable and Tomtom supplied Power Adapter

    Hi
Using the Tomtom supplied cable and Tomtom supplied Car cigarette-lighter Power Adapter will be fine
    Tomtom Shop...
    https://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/sat-nav/accessories/chargers-cables/compact-car-charger/

I think Halfords and Maybe? PC World sell them

Copy & Paste from one of my previous posts ....
it's not just a power thing... Some Car power adapters aren't compatible

I did a quick test this morning with my Start 60 and a selection of power adapters... The power saving is more obvious on the Start 60 as the 6" Resistive screen draws more power than the Capacitive screens of the NAV4/NAV5 (Wi-Fi) GO Devices

It's the USB ports built into the Dashboard in today's Cars for Data transfer and 3rd Party Cigarette-lighter Power Adapters that can cause problems

    Hi Pete,

What you could still try on the software side is to set your device to recovery mode [support FAQ - Red X]. Please note, that this will delete your personal information, e.g. My Places and destination prediction data. You can save and restore My Places with MyDrive. The following video walks you through the recovery mode process:

Should that not help you get this sorted, please contact Customer Service for further assistance. They'll be able to get to the bottom of your issue and help you get it sorted.

    Cheers, Mikko
