# Top speed calculation..

Hi,

I use tomtom runner for windsurfing. Tomtom displays the top speed: 1.09 min/km (52.09km/u). As I check 1.09 min/km into kmh on google, I get: 55.0458716 kilometers per hour.

So which one is correct? 3km/u is big difference in windsurfing:D

Thanks in advance!

52.17 is the correct measure based on 1:09 (I assume there are decimal points) so Google is wrong. You can do the calculation yourself, it is 60/1:09 converted to decimal, so you take 9/60 and get 9 seconds equals .15 minutes, so 1:09 is equal to 1.15 minutes. 60/1.15 = 52.17.

You put 1.09, not 1:09, so it assumes you want 1.09 km/hr, which is actually 1:05.4 pace. You cannot convert pace to speed without first converting the time to a decimal equivalent. You should use a site that is specifically designed for pace calculations, like this one:

http://www.runningforfitness.org/calc/converters/convert?pace_min=1&pace_sec=9&paceunits=perkm&Submit=Calculate&speed=0.0&speedunits=kmperhour
