Make sure you have the most recent software on your device, get it from here https://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/product_select/locale/en_GB

Remember after each up date to do a soft reset, you will loose nothing, it is like rebooting your computer and reloads all the new files from an update.

A soft reset :- with your device charged for at least 2Hrs "OR" have the device plugged into a power supply; press and hold your on/off button until you hear a drum-roll sound (or the TomTom hands symbol appears) then release the on/off button.

Another thing to keep the back of your mind if you have experimented with the various route options... If you have used the "Walking Route" option and then forgot to set the route option back to driving/riding
As a pedestrian, the planner can send you either way around the traffic island (usually the shortest)

Does turning the device off after completing an update also acts as a soft reboot when you next come to use it?

    By turning in on again
