No Voice on GO Mobile App — TomTom Community

No Voice on GO Mobile App

lotuslotus Posts: 4 [Neophyte Traveler]
Suddenly TomTom on Androdi has stopped talking to me. Whenever driving directions should be announced the other sources are mtued, but TomTom remains silent. I have checked other audio (multimedia) sources, all working fine. I have changed TomTom voices, but no impact.

It seems the TomTom app has lost its voice?

    Hi lotus,

Please check wether voice commands or sound are not disabled:

If this doesn´t help a new installation of the app might solve the problem.

I have checked that voice commands and sound are enabled. In fact I have toggled these sevrral times to verify.

Will reinstallation require a new full download of the map Will this delete my favourites or is there a way to conserve these.

Unfortunately you will need a full download and will have to enter your favorites again.

I don´t know if there is a way of exporting favorites on a rooted device, on a unrooted there is no way.

What needs to be done is to remove the on and off switch from the app completely.
It causes more problems then what it is worth.

Let the user control the volume from the switch comes with every smartphone and tablet.
Which is on the outside of the phone or tablet.

There is no need to turn the speaker on or off inside the app.
Or to increase or decrease the volume from inside the app.

When you play a YouTube video or get a phone call you go to the volume control to turn it up or down.

Not having to first go into the app to control the sound.

    @Asprin624 @W.G.R.

This topic is about (problems with) the former TomTom Navigation app for Android; it has nothing to do with the current GO Mobile app. The support for the former TomTom Navigation app has ended two years ago.

It does not matter the same problem is with TomTomGO.

This function is not need within the app.

It is better to control the volume from the up and down switch on the side of the phone or tablet.

Why it is inside the app serves no real value to the app.

Setting up the voice you want to use with in the settings yes.
But not having to go back into the app while you are driving to check if the volume is on or not.

It should be on all the time....

The volume settings can be done from the outside of the phone or tablet.
You turn it up or down to your liking.

This way there is no chance a use can turn of the voice by mistake.
The switch sits just under the settings switch.
To put it there in the first place is very dumb.

As I can not send you a private message:-
"This member can only receive messages from members they are following." :(

Here is what I would have sent:-

"It is better to 'Flag' a post to the moderators to transfer (to the correct board) an errant post than what you wrote in your post above ;)"
