GO discover Map compatibility and download

Why is our device not compatible with any maps to purchase. We bought one to buy and did purchase, a USA map.
Further investigations, our device isn’t compatible with ANY maps!

    it was the " must not be connected to the computer via the USB cable" that made the difference!!!!!!!!!!

    On the GO Discover & GO Expert etc... The Map Updates & Downloads >> MUST << be over Wi-Fi and connected to a power supply while updating....
    If MyDrive Connect is running on the PC + The GO Discover connected to the USB Port....
    The USB connection will take priority over the Wi-Fi Connection....


    I have MyDrive Connect installed, but set up NOT to AUTO START UP when the PC starts....
    I only Start MyDrive Connect as and when required for say updates etc for the previous ranges of Tomtom devices....
    Method... With MyDrive Connect running...
    Click on the Cog Wheel Icon Screen top right
    Click on the General Tab
    Un-Tick Start MyDrive when the Computer Starts
    Click on Save the Settings....

    Or use a Mains Powered USB charger or a Smartphone USB charger....

    GO Discover has maps of the world you don't need to buy a map.

    To download the United States map.

    The Tomtom must not be connected to the computer via the USB cable, otherwise the "Add" option will not be highlighted.

    To add a map from another country, just go to
    Main menu > setting > Maps & display > Downloaded maps > in the right corner you will see the option > Add
