tomtom go accessory 'click and go' broken

I recently bought the tomtom go with the 'click and go' holder for the window. All functioned well until recently when I wanted to 'unclick' the tom tom from the holder. The magnet is so strong that the whole holder broke in two (half stuck on the window, other half stuck on the tom tom). Is this a case of 'insurance'? I did not do anything but trying to get the tom tom of the holder. Besides I want to order a new one as without a holder I can not connect the tom tom anymore. How to do that?

    Hi
    @Lijn
    Welcome to the site....
    Tomtom GO ??? Do you know the full Model Name ???

    I find it easier to separate the device from the mount….
    If you pull the head unit towards you and downwards at the same time (Like a peeling action)
    Tip... To remove the Mount from the screen, don't forget to turn the outer ring fully anticlockwise and lift one of the little ears on the suction cup to release the vacuum....
    _______________________

    When I was using an Air vent mount, I also found the Magnetic grab on the mount was too strong.…
    (I was concerned about the tiny slats in the Air vent)
    >> I put 2 layers of gaffer tape across the magnet on the mount to reduce the Magnetic grab <<

    Use the above at your own discretion....
    I suppose there's a safety concern... If you were involved in an accident having the head unit flying around inside the Car....

    Hi
    @Lijn
    What are the 1st two characters of the device 'Serial number' ??? The first two letters define the Tomtom Model...
    (Only post the 1st 2 Characters).... Its a little sticker on the bottom edge of the device....
    Thats not a Click & Go Mount... It's one of the later Active Magnetic Mount....
    See Here... https://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/sat-nav/accessories/?type=mountsdocks

    The 2 parts of the Mount simply Click/Snap together....
    I Popped open one of my Active Magnetic Mounts then re-clicked it back together to show you....
    All OK

    I've had issues with the back casing cracking because the magnets are too strong on 2 seperate devices now so with my new one I've put 2 layers of insulation tape over the magnets so at least I can pull it off without damaging my device.
    Have contacted Tomtom over this issue and they insinuated that I had damaged it in some way
