TomTom 6250 traffic

I have had to reset my 6250 twice now over the last couple of months because it stopped receiving traffic updates. This is a time-consuming process that I could really do without, so why does this happen? Resetting is the only option provided by TT but surely it shouldn't be a problem in the first place. Is this a ploy to try and get me to replace it with a Garmin?

    remove sim clean it with alcohol solution
    fit it in again

    Many thanks. Tried that & still no joy. The traffic icon still has a cross on it, with 'Service unavailable' and tapping that says 'We are having trouble accessing TomTom services. Please try again later. Left it for a couple of hours but no change. Shall reset it over the weekend and see if it solves the issue.

    did you get an answer ? a satnav without traffic alerts USELESS !

    I have the same problem.
    I also noticed that under info and then under gprs status it says no connection....
    Without gprs no traffic information.
