Why can't I install free map updates?

I bought the device with lifetime map and if I seach for updates, I'm asked to pay!

The GO 5000, 8GB + micro-SDHC, MyDrive Connect NAV4 Device....
Re... 8GB NAV4 Device's & Catch22...
The early Maps fitted easily onto 8 GB on-board Memory, but the Map sizes increases with every update....
The Map size now exceeds the 8GB on-board Memory size on the NAV4 devices, this is an unfortunate, but real Catch22 situation....
The latest NAV4 Full Europe Map size is now around 9 GB....

Also....
Do you have have multiple maps installed ???
If you, have you several Maps installed on the device ??? MyDrive Connect only Monitors the Active Map... You have to manually select and update any other installed Maps...

Dear everyone. I have now found the error. The unit had to be connected with cable direct to the unit and not through the base.
