Hello everyone I'm new here (as in a family member gave me the GPS and told me to see if I figure it out), so I might not know some basic stuff. I described my problem in the title and watched a video about GPS reset but that didn't work, so I downloaded TomTom Home and tried to reset it from the computer, but it's not detecting the GPS.
so if someone can help me out that would be great

Have you tried a Soft/Drum roll restart on the device ??? This restarts the devices Operating System
RESETTING YOUR NAVIGATION DEVICE

Charge the device for at least 2 Hrs….
(Preferably using something like a Smartphone or a Mains powered USB charger + Using the Tomtom USB lead)
OR have the device plugged into a power supply while the device is restarting
Press and hold the on/off button until you hear a drum-roll sound then release the on/off button.
You won’t lose anything; it’s just like rebooting your PC

@fergussion I installed "my drive connect", and followed the instructions on the page and got this,
when the GPS turned on nothing changed, but no spinning cogwheel or wheel. tried to get the cogwheel or wheel, three times but got nothing.
@YamFazMan thanks for the download link. Yes, I tried to reset the GPS as per the article you linked but the GPS kept boot looping.0
