NO MAPS FOUND after Update (& No Backup)

TomTom XL IQ Routes
Installed TomTom Home and went through download steps for updated - selected Europe (Western) as want UK maps
Download worked (seemed), but then update failed "Not started, because of earlier failures"
Now have no maps on the device and no backup to restore from

    Welcome to the site....
    @VikramK or @lampard the Forum Moderators should pick this up on Monday and if applicable allocate the Map to your Tomtom Account....
    If the device is End of life and the old Map is still available on the servers, they can re-activate the old Map for download....

    Note: tried downloading a variety of the available maps - all give same error - any help appreciated

    I am afraid there is not much troubleshooting we can try here..
    Have you tried a clean format and restoration of the application and map?
