Hello, I have been trying to update my device for a while now, with updated map and the GPS fix. Every time it downloads but then fails when installing to the device. Wifi connection is strong and isn't dropping out. Device now won't start. Tried a reset and also a recovery but no luck. Struggling sometimes to even connect it to MyDrive. I have re-installed MyDrive, cleared cache etc but it just isn't having it. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

    Hi

Do not update via wi-fi connect a cable to your computer.

    then reinstall the card https://help.tomtom.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360013959859-Télécharger-de-nouveau-une-carte

I have been trying to update via a cable, it's the only way to update the device that I have. Tried the link as suggested but still no luck. Just keep getting the screen with the settings cog on the TomTom.

    Hi
    @mozza99
Has Recovery Mode been initiated by yourself or has Recovery Mode self/auto initiated on the device ???
If Recovery Mode has Automatically Started or you have initialized Recovery Mode on your device....
MyDrive Connect >> MUST << be running on your PC, and be capable of displaying as >> CONNECTED << on MyDrive Connect...
The device >> MUST << be connected to your PC using the supplied USB Cable with MyDrive Connect running in the background for the Recovery process to complete....

    Installing MyDrive Connect....

If Recovery mode has Auto Started, it will bypass the Text screen and the 3 presses of the power button... And will already be at a stage of Recovery somewhere between the 'Spinning-disk' image shown in bullet point (5) and the bullet point (7) image showing the recovery progress count up to 100%

Once Recovery Mode is initiated, and if a connection to MyDrive Connect has NOT established... Recovery Mode will continue to attempt to connect to MDC until the Server eventually times-out....
Any attempts at a Restart of the device... Recovery Mode will continue to attempt to connect to MDC until the Server eventually times-out....

Thank you for the response, followed the above instructions. Recovery mode I believe had already started as the spinning cog is present. Connected it to MDC as instructed and it starts to connect and does recovery process but then states no internet connection and times out. Internet connection is still present so not sure why it is saying this.

    Hi

    Re "Download/installation interrupted".....
Are your USB ports set for power saving "USB Selective Suspend"

    Win7 See... http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/147369-usb-selective-suspend-turn-off.html

    Win10 See… https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/73187-turn-off-usb-selective-suspend-windows-10-a.html
Click on link and scroll down to "Turn Off USB Selective Suspend"

Also turn off any Screen savers any other Power savers or USB port monitoring software installed

Do you have or have access to a 'Surface Dock', if so plug your device into a USB port on that. Others have found that to work

On the Win10 tablets, Microsoft has hidden the "USB Selective Suspend" menu
You will need to edit the Registry for the USB Selective Suspend menu to show
