How to format a memory card for my gps. Thanks.

I can't figure out how to remove content from my gps, so I bought a memory card. Now I need to get it formatted. Please help?

    Do not delete a map installed on your GPS otherwise your GPS will no longer be able to turn on.

    Format the SD on your computer then insert it into your GPS the device should ask you to format it.

    Thank you but the tiny disc doesn't fit in my notebook. I don't understand what formatting means also.
