If I buy a go discover in the UK,can I use in Canada to get live traffic ?

As the title says, can I use a uk bought go discover that uses a smart phone connection for live traffic, speed cameras etc in Canada?

I would like to buy a device to use abroad and load the relevant mapping but as I have already found my current go 6200 with life time world maps and live traffic
does not get any info when I used it in South Africa. Not suprising really as the data is free from the device.
However will a new device that uses a smartphone connection with data package display this info?
