Mydrive not available in my region

I just collected a Rider 550 from my sister in the UK. On arrival at home in Thailand I find my Apple AppStore (Thailand) account does not give me access to the MyDrive app. I can't connect my phone to my shiny new GPS! Use of a VPN connection to the UK does not help.

Is there a way around this? Or am I stuck with a dud unit I can't connect to other than from my desktop?

    app only available in limited countries where tomtom has more customers
