France map installed, how to plan a route GO 500 tomtom

I have paid for an extra map (France) mydrive says I have installed it, but I can't get a route to anywhere in france, just a blank screen on my gps, unable to find a route. I have tried to uninstall and install again, several times, I am really fed up. travelling to France tomorrow, so will be driving blind, but luckily I do have an old garmin, which can find places in france, but used I don't know how many hours making a route on mydrive.

    Select Settings, then select Maps Select change map, Select France map.

    thanks a million, I just have to make two routes out of each route, putting in a place at the border. Thought I was going crazy. A bit more work than I thought. But again thanks :-)

    the Go 500 to a Europe card 49 countries installed.

    normally you don't need to buy the France map because the France map is included in the Europe map.
