Setting a zoom level on a GO Discover TomTom

I've had my go discover a few months and the zoom isn't very good and I've tried the different settings but sometimes the zoom level is ok and sometimes it's zoomed out too far so i have to pinch the screen to get it to a good level but why doesn't it keep that setting.
Apart from that it's quite good...any help as always appreciated

    I always drive 2D (I hate the 3D driving view)
    Zoom Based on road type

    I much prefer the 3d view it's just the zoom is hit and miss with it.
    Sometimes it's fine but at other times it's way too zoomed out so all I want is it to stay where I've zoomed to if that makes sense
